Frequently asked questions

  • Low-emissivity glass limits radiant heat exchange and helps reduce heat loss to the outside during winter. Solar control glass reduces the sun's energy entering the rooms, helping to limit summer overheating. Both functions can be present in the same glazing unit and should be chosen considering climate, orientation and window size.
  • A key parameter is the thermal transmittance Uw, which expresses how much heat passes through the entire window: the lower the value, the better the insulation. It should be distinguished from the Ug value, which refers to the glass alone. To compare two proposals, it is useful to check the Uw of the windows in the intended sizes and configurations, also considering installation quality.
  • Triple glazing has two cavities and, with an appropriate composition, can offer better thermal insulation than double glazing. However, the choice must consider the building as a whole: climate, orientation, desired performance, weight and light transmission. To assess the most suitable solution, compare the declared performance of the glass and the complete window system.
  • Installation creates the connection between the window and the building. If this connection is poorly executed, draughts, leaks and heat loss can occur even with a high-quality window. An installation designed for the specific situation, with appropriate fixings and seals, helps maintain insulation, weather-tightness and correct operation over time.
