Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, provided it is chosen and sized according to its intended use. Safety glass with specific characteristics is used for these applications. The composition of the panes, dimensions, fixing systems and behaviour in the event of breakage all matter. A railing, for example, requires a different assessment from an interior door: safety comes from the design of the entire system.
  • Tempered glass undergoes a heat treatment that increases its mechanical strength and resistance to temperature changes; when it breaks, it shatters into small pieces. Laminated glass consists of multiple panes bonded with an interlayer that holds the fragments together if broken. The two processes can also be combined: the choice depends on the function and the level of safety required.
  • The risk of overheating depends on sun exposure, glazed surface area and the shading measures in place. Careful design combines appropriate glass with shading devices, such as brise-soleil or external blinds, to manage light and solar gains. It is therefore possible to create large, bright openings while ensuring summer comfort from the early design stages.
